BRINGING HOPE BACK TO THE PEOPLE

WHY TSF?

Every morning, hundreds of millions of people around the world wake up not knowing where their next meal will come from. TSF with other non-profit organisations works together, offering letters urging the government of Nigeria to support TSF's hunger programs in response to poverty and starvation.

Hunger is an enormous problem, but it is solvable. We have all the knowledge, resources, and talent we need - what we lack is leadership to build the public and political will to make sure it happens in our lifetime.

INVEST IN THE HARDWORKING PEOPLE TO END HUNGER

OUR PROGRAMS

Hunger Programs

At TSF, we designed a food pantry to end hunger by organising information and support for community survival. This food assistance responds to local needs and ensures the most vulnerable families in some of the poorest regions can access a healthy and affordable diet with choice and dignity.

For many people struggling to make ends meet and feed their families, having to resort to a food bank carries a great deal of stigma. Food pantries only meet short term, emergency needs and often offer very little choice to service users.

Health Programs

We believe good health supports positive social and economic outcomes – both for the individual and society as a whole. Hunger, conflict and natural disasters can have a huge impact on people’s health, particularly in the most vulnerable communities.

In Nigeria, health problems such as diabetes, malaria, hypertension, or stress conditions are most common. This makes us prioritize a health framework to help us achieve a healthier Nigeria and a better future for everyone.

Education Programs

Like a tree, poverty has many roots. But among the many causes of global poverty, one factor stands out: education. Not every person without an education is living in extreme poverty. But most of those living in extreme poverty do lack basic education.

Those living below the poverty line will also be more likely to keep their children out of school, which means that their children will also have a greater chance of living in poverty. This is so true because it also addresses many of the other issues that can keep communities vulnerable.

CHRISTIANITY rEJECTS HUNGER

“THE GENEROUS WILL THEMSELVES BE BLESSED, FOR THEY SHARE THEIR FOOD WITH THE POOR.” PROVERBS 22:9.

Sharing with others is a gift that we can offer, and one from which we also receive. God created human beings to share and we have a real need to share. We remain spiritually stunted if we do not.”

Ultimately, the story of ending hunger is not about Jesus feeding those gathered around him. The story of ending hunger is not about manna falling from heaven to feed weary people. The story of ending hunger is not about wealthy people leaving a portion of their riches behind to be gathered by people excluded from prosperity. Ending hunger will be a story of justice, rebuilding broken systems, and using the tools we already have to ensure everyone has access to good food. These tools can help us end systemic hunger, but we must act now.

“WHO FILLS HIS STOMACH WHILE HIS NEIGHBOUR GOES HUNGRY IS NOT A BELIEVER.” (BUKHARI)

ISLAM REJECTS HUNGER

YOUR ZAKAT DONATIONS CAN PROVIDE THE MOST DESERVING CARE PACKAGES OF NUTRITIOUS FOOD.

The holy Quran says that those who do not have enough to eat must be helped, which, if you are a believer, makes food insecurity a spiritual issue and not just a political or economic one. What Islam represents is giving to more intractable issues, such as poverty reduction, which can reach more people, thus providing a more sustainable solution.

TSF acknowledge that several Muslims across the country have been involved in resolving this issue already. As hunger is an issue that exists among the people of faith – we are supposed to take action and end it. That is why TSF is committed to working with the Muslim faiths all over the country to address any problems that may be causing the persistence of hunger and poverty in the country.
