One of the main elements of the TSF Future Hospital project is Outpatient and walking in medicare Care for most patients in need of Imaging (X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI, Ultrasound, PET Scan), surgery, Therapies and Endoscopy. The hospital departments are on three levels, with a glazed courtyard at each level. The building has been designed around the needs of patients making sure it enhances their experience, for example by ensuring there are short journeys to each area.
An Urgent Treatment Centre is located on the ground floor, the largest maternity unit and provides an environment that is safe, secure, comfortable and relaxing, providing choice and control whilst welcoming the whole family.
A wonderful space, filled with colour, light and fun. This is our vision for a fantastic, new home for the General Hospital.
For the first time, TSF aims to bring health services together in a hospital building designed around the needs of people, their families and carers.
From the ground up, our new Hospital will be a completely different experience of hospital care – from the latest, cutting-edge technologies to the family-friendly surroundings.
It’s an ambitious, long-term proposal and a huge investment in the health of patients, the wider region and beyond. It’s also a major step in development.
We welcome your feedback and ideas as we develop our design. On these pages, you can read about it in more detail and share your views on our social media platforms. Please do let us know what you think.
This is your hospital. This is your healthcare!
Future technologies will be part of the fabric of our new Hospital, from digital apps to help patients and families find their way around, to the most advanced technologies for diagnosis and treatment, including imaging and surgery.
Children, young, and adult people live in a digital era, so there will also be WiFi access, tech for entertainment, for keeping in touch with friends, gaming, education and to help families understand their patient's treatment and stay connected with the outside world.
If your family member is in hospital, you want to be there too. So, our hospital design will keep the whole family and friends in mind, with facilities like places to be together and remembering that even touches like extra space around the beds can make all the difference to a family’s comfort.
From the minute you walk into the hospital environment, you’ll be in for a surprise. It won’t feel like a hospital. Instead, you’ll enter an area filled with light, colour, views, vegetation, places to sit or to relax, shops and cafés – all designed to make families feel welcome, to entertain, distract and reduce anxiety.
We want to construct a new hospital building that is exactly right and help level up for thousands of people across the country. We welcome ideas and feedback.
